When I became an entrepreneur, I was pretty healthy… for a while. Soon I found myself working 16 or even 18 hour days, giving myself quick hits of dopamine and energy with sugar-filled cooking for lunch and scoffing something down for dinner so I could get back to work. The demands — or our perceived demands (no one will die if you take a little bit longer to get back to them) — can often overshadow our personal health and overall well-being. Neglecting these essential aspects can lead to burnout, affecting not just our professional endeavors, but also our overall quality of life. This I’m saying from experience. This blog post dives into my own transformative experience of leveraging AI to aid in my health and fitness goals while navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship. I’ll share how I’m using AI to support my health goals and why I think artificial intelligence will be better than most fitness apps in this new age.

Artificial intelligence technology is no doubt reshaping the business landscape, equipping entrepreneurs to accomplish more with fewer resources and less time. Before we even get into how to use it for creating customized workout plans, creating a balanced diet (personalized for the individual’s fitness level), or coming up with meal plans based on your dietary restrictions, we need to address how artificial intelligence is impacting business owners at the business level. Regardless of whether you’re running a small team or tackling challenges solo, AI tools are here to automate repetitive tasks, enhance productivity, and streamline workflows. By entrusting AI with time-consuming responsibilities, you regain precious hours in your day, allowing you to focus on health and fitness amidst your hectic lifestyle… or (and hear me out now) even avoid a hectic lifestyle altogether.

Ai powered entrepreneurs can create content faster (and yes, by creating unique content too, not just content that is copy and pasted from ChatGPT), provide faster customer service, reduce their mental load by using AI to help brainstorm, and more.

Personalizing Your Health and Wellness Journey with AI

Recognizing that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t suffice in health and wellness, artificial intelligence emerges as a contender in the fitness industry, especially for those who don’t have the time to head to a trainer (especially for those of us in rural areas) or don’t have the money for a nutritionist. In some ways, it can act like a personal trainer, a personal assistant who plans your meals, and a grocery shopper. Through AI algorithms, you can furnish detailed insights about your health status, fitness goals, eating habits, and more. 

AI capitalizes on this data and any other pertinent data, like dietary restrictions, to craft tailored health plans designed to meet your distinct needs. This personalized approach ensures you’re on a precise path toward achieving your health and fitness objectives.

Let's Get Specific: How I'm Using AI for My Nutrition

Around 2018 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. And every week since then

My journey led me to the revelation of Chat GPT, a dynamic AI language model that swiftly became a trusted ally in my quest for health and fitness excellence. By providing comprehensive information about my current health status, fitness goals, and challenges, I enlisted Chat GPT’s help to create a comprehensive plan tailored to optimize my overall well-being. Its insightful responses took into account factors such as my type two diabetes, workout preferences, dietary choices, and even sleep patterns, culminating in a holistic and attainable plan.

Finding Recipes that Fit Your Needs

It’s not easy finding recipes when you have specific dietary needs. I’ve started using Bard to help my find recipes that are highly rated and also meet my dietary needs. The prompt I use is: “I need a type 2 diabetes-friendly meal that is high in protein, low in carbs, gluten free, and does not include asparagus or brussel sprouts, any kind of sea creature or water creature (example – no tuna, salmon, lobster, etc.). It should have at least 500 5 star ratings.

Embracing Exercise with AI

With AI’s support, I was equipped with a well-rounded exercise regimen spanning strength training, dancing, kickboxing, and other activities tailored to my fitness goal. The AI-crafted dietary plan was meticulously aligned with my goal of naturally managing diabetes, focusing on plant-based nutrition and mindful eating. This potent combination underscores the remarkable influence of AI in shaping our fitness journeys.

Limitations

While artificial intelligence can aid in your health and fitness industry, it’s not a complete replacement for personal trainers who can provide real time feedback (while you’re working out) and encouragement. When I’ve worked with a trainer, I’ve valued the immediate feedback and motivation I felt. I personally prefer working out with groups or in a class, but if I need a plan — a place to start — I like using AI to help me come up with that plan. I think the lack of human connection from is the biggest limitation of AI, in general and in the health and fitness industry. That being said, if human trainers with personalized training plans and fitness coaching regimens aren’t currently in your budget, artificial intelligence is absolutely a great option, especially if you have fitness equipment at home.
